GEOLOGY ALPS

Region Emilia-Romagna:: Geology:: Planet earth - You history of the Alps
The chain of the Alps belongs to a grandiose band orogenica, in strong relief on the surrounding earths, derived by the alpine wrinkling - himalayano.
The principal mountainous systems to begin from west, are represented by the Chain Betica and Sierra Nevada, from the Rif and from the atlas of the Cloths Algerian, from the Pyrenees, from the arcs of the Alps and the Appennino, from the Alps Dinariche and from the arc carpatico, Balkans, Pindo, Peloponneso, Anatolia with the mountains of the Ponto and the Tauro, the Caucaso, the Zagroses, the Hindukush, the Karakoram, the Himalaya and after a shoal deviation toward south, the chain develops him fraying himself/herself/itself in the mountains of Indochina up to plunge in the Sea of the Probe (fig.
Properly The said alpine chain is limited from the Geologists toward west with the line-fracture Sestri-voltage, second the meridian in Genoa.
It is brusquely interrupted in correspondence of the north-western sector of the Appennino, while to east it damps him with the "basin in Vienna" and with the Hungarian lowland that you/they divide her/it from the Alps south Dinariche and from the east Carpazi.
The Alps, long around thousand kilometers, they draw an arc very accented in the western part, to stretch him and to widen in the oriental sector, in correspondence of the Caravanches and the Prealpis Stiriane.

PARK NATIONAL DOLOMITES BELLUNESI
LOCATION: In Veneto, between the Venetian prealpis and the Dolomites, on the right shore of the Piave, between Feltre and Belluno.
GEOLOGY: The great variety orografica of the territory of the Park is anciently justified from the fact that part of this territory it constituted the backdrop of a deep sea whose basin, correspondent to the today's area of Belluno, was inserted among the base about thirty and that friulana.
The principal stratigraphical series is constituted by dolomie triassiche (Dolomia Principale of the Mountains of the Sun); of more ancient age the Dolomia of the Sciliar (Piz de Mez and Piz de Sangron), the sandstones of Val Gardena and the crystalline metamorphic plinth of Paleozoic age that constitutes the crystalline clog of the Alps (Tall Valley of the Mis, Valley Imperina, where rocks of age Permianas also appear on the surface (ancient!).
FAUNA: The wealth of environments and the maturity of the woods allow the presence of the whole more typical alpine fauna, excluded the extinct kinds as the bear, the wolf, the lynx and the stambecco unfortunately.
The important presences are surely the four kinds of tetraonidi of the Alps, the dwarf owl, the black woodpecker and three of the present four kinds of viper in Italy: common viper, viper of the horn and viper.

GEOLOGY D\'ITALIA
The orogenesi alpine you/he/she is manifested following the collision of the African sod with that European.
But Italy is not formed only from the Alps.
In this way they came him to form the two principal Italian mountainous chains: the Alps to east and the Appennineses to west.
They were prepared, in fact, on the prolongation of the Alps and therefore they connected this chain with the mountains of southern Spain.
In this movement "to brush of windshield wiper" the chain appenninica he also brought behind a line of the European continent that had not been interested from the orogenesi alpine.
The deformations that have resulted in the constitution of the chain alpine-appenninica the sediments that were deposited in the geosinclinale have interested, the basaltic rocks of the fund of the same geosinclinale and besides the marginal parts of the two continental blocks paleoeuropeo and paleoafricano.
These strata appear on the surface especially in the external part of the western Alps where they cover the plinth sialico of the old European continent that appears on the surface today in discontinuous way in the thick ones of the it will silver, of the Pelvoux-Belledonne, of the White Mountain and of the Aar-Gottardo.

GEOLOGY OF THE FRIULI
Therefore the term tectonics is also synonymous of structural geology.
The great diversification of the landscape that goes from the sea to the tall mountains and that the lagoons he/she understands that the tides of tide succeed to always maintain alive, the arid and sterile lowlands of the north and those fertile of the "low", the hills rich in vegetation and the tall peaks of the Alps Carniche and Julia it is consequence both of the nature of the rocks and of the modifications that the rocks themselves have suffered in the time.
The Friuli-Venice Giulia is earth young geologicamente in how much you/he/she is formed following the Orogenesi Alpine-Himalayana.
Orogenesi (from the Greek òros = mountain and génesis = birth) is a term with which you/they are defined the trials that bring to the lifting of the mountains in geology.
The Earth, during his/her history, you/he/she has been interested from a series of cycles orogenetici, the last of which, that takes note the name of "Orogenesi Alpino-Himalayana" because said origin to the mountainous chains that go from the Alps to the Himalaya and further in the extreme Asian east, about fifty million of years is initiated ago and you/he/she can be said that I/you/he/she am still in action.
The renewed alpine wrinkling he now introduces with the most inside section formed by the residue of the chain emerged in the Paleozoic era during the Orogenesi Ercinica.

This way him formed son the Alps whose rocks were found after all to an a little deep ocean.
It is possible that the first fragment of Africa to enter collision with Europe is represented by the microzolla Apula (from which the actual Italian peninsula) and that from this clash the first reliefs of the Alps are born.
Speak of first reliefs because the total trial of the formation of the Alps has lasted million of years...! Image that the approach of the African sod illustrates that goes in subduzione (it slips under) to the European sod.
From this approach-clash it is initiated, around 60 million years ago, the process of orogenesi of the Alps.
All the rocks of the oceanic fund, following the push produced by the movement of the African continent against that European, they are compressed and you refold on if same and therefore is been pushed on the southern edge of the continent paleoeuropeo where the rocky blankets are crossed in chaotic way up to form that that today is the most imposing mountainous chain in Europe, that is the Chain of the Alps.
Well, the layers of the sedimentary rocks that were after all once to the ocean Piedmontese-ligure, they are now found to form the Alps which show the strange horizontal cuts of which the reader speaks to his/her question in many points.Such 'cuts' they are lines of separation between layer and layer of sedimentary rock and I am a characteristic of all the mountains formed by sedimentary rocks.

Vademecum of alpine geology
Instead the greatest part of the geologic phenomena that we see in action on the Alps continues from a lot of about ten million of years.
Vademecum for the curious one of the Alps La history of the Alps as that of all the great chains of mountains, are essentially a history of convergence of two plates.
In this case it deals with two continental plates, Africa and Eurasia, among which it was mediate an oceanic plate to the beginning, the Tetide or "alpine ocean."
And this explains the interest with which official researchers and impassioned dilettantes observe the alpine rocks to the search of explanations.
Following our geologic itineraries, here to thing to do particularly attention to have a sensible picture and culturally interesting of the alpine nature.
- The axial zone of the alpine chain, in which the Valley of Aosta is inclusive, is constituted by the "heap of shavings."
In these shavings the key is about to understand what has happened, because there are there rocks that testify every alpine phase of the orogenesi.
- The various strata have lengthened following the bending of the alpine arc, from the inside of the arc toward the outside, and they are stacked tilt the one on the others as of the tiles to upside-down.

National park Gesäuse | Natural zone | Geology
Information on the geology and the geomorphology of the Gesäuse.
The Northern calcareous Alps extend him from the alpine Rino up to the Viennese basin and they are formed by rests of forms of life in the primordial sea, with an elevated part of rocky material and chalky mud.
To understand their geology needs to consider that the today's mountains were raised during million of years and that originally they constituted the seabed Thetys (for so to say, the precursor of the today's Mediterranean Sea).
Northern calcareous alpine strip between Wienerwald and Raetikon.
The rock of the calcareous Alps pushed him from south up to the central (the Tauren, the Alps slates) Alps.
From here the name of "system of overlap of the alpis of the northeast." .
The Alps of the valley of the Enns make part of the Tall calcareous Alps that constitutes one of the most impressive panoramas in Austria.
To north of the Tall calcareous Alps the mountains become, gradually, more basic and in end they unite him to the feet of the calcareous Alps.
Here, to less than ten kilometers from the Gesäuse, the National Park of the calcareous (tall Austria) Alps can be found.

ALPS AND PREALPI LOMBARDE. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC GUIDE - VOL. 2 - Edilio - Housebuilding before fast
After the exit of the first volume of auto itineraries, on the geology of the Alps and Prealpi Lombarde, that so much interest has gotten, this second volume is devoted to the same geographical area and it contains 35 itineraries of excursions afoot.
The volume is composed of two parts: the first one includes 21 itineraries in the Alps, the second 14 itineraries in the Prealpis.
To try to make also comprehensible to a profane the geology of the territory we have privileged the illustrative part.

Community Montana Feltrina - Region of Veneto
The abundance of fossils and the same composition point out their origin in the zones of river delta with contributions deriving detritici from the Alps Austriache before and Bavarian and therefore from the Julia as soon as these emerged from the sea.
The northern side of the sinclinale of Belluno, that is rather steep, is joined with the Alps Feltrine, that dominate the valley (maximum elevation, in the group dolomitico of Cimonega, the 2550 ms.
The territory of Lamon is characterized by the Coppolo Mountain that, despite the deep incision of the Cismon, it is connected, with the long anticrinale Coppolo-Pelf, to all the reliefs of the Alps Feltrine, traditionally separate (from Or toward And) in the subgroups of the Peaks, of Cimonega, of Pizzocco-Brendol-Agnelezze.
In correspondence of zones a little you tilt on the northern slope of the anticlinale, notable examples of glacial circuses are appreciated, what the Aial on the Coppolo Mountain, the different Buses of the Alps Feltrine (Monsampian, Cavaren-Val Caneva, of the Peaks, Pietena, further to others smaller), Pian of the King and the Regina in Cimonega, Erera-Brendol.
