DOLOMITES ROCKS

geology of the Dolomites; signs of geologic history
The splendid scenery dolomitico, where steeples and towers of clear rock are raised from green and sweets slopes, are the result of the particular geologic history of this mountainous region.
In the Dolomites they are found each other associated two types of rocks, that dolomitica and that volcanic, that normally are not him/it because they totally derive from trials and from different environments.
As the rock dolomitica is very more resistant to the agents of the meteoric (sun, rain, cold, the waters' ruscellamento) degradation in comparison to the volcanic rocks, which change and easily infrolliscono results, that the pale and towering woodpeckers dolomiticis are found nearby or they emerge from the green valleys and from the sweets slant, where instead they are the ax rocks of volcanic origin.
The dolomia and the rocks that appear on the surface in the zone dolomitica are almost all formed after all to the sea during what is called "trial litogenetico" (or of the formation of the rocks).
Well different it is the "trial orogenetico", in which the formation of the mountains is had and that, in the case of the Dolomites, it is separate from that litogenetico from well 100-150 million years.

Park National Dolomites Bellunesi: The nature: Geology
The geology You history of the Dolomites Bellunesi is a long and complex history, initiated in warm tropical seas more than two hundred million years ago and marked subsequently from some events chiave:.
• the accumulation during the era Mesozoica of the sediments that constitutes leattuali stratify sedimentary rocks.
Big part of the territory is planned on rocks of sedimentary origin but don't miss the exceptions as in the tall Valley of the Mis and in the Valley Imperina where they appear on the surface, in correspondence of the 'Line of the Valsugana' (important fault that represents the geologic border of the Dolomites), very ancient rocks of metamorphic origin.
Today in the Park we admire great meadow basins, ample and deep valleys, vast walls and solariums, but also dark ravines stillicidiosi, incumbent cliffs on dark gorges, tall and solitary valloni, tormented highlands where the nature carsica of the rocks has allowed the development of a landscape underground fact of wells, cracks, salt, galleries, abysses that penetrate in the bowel of the earth.

The Dolomites The name "Dolomites" The actual name of this famous alpine chain, called still to the beginning of our century " you Climb on Pale ", it derives from that of its geologic constitution in which predominate her/it dolomia, a type of formed sedimentary rock essentially from the mineral dolomite, that he/she takes the name from a mineralogist and French naturalist: Diedonnè-Sylvain-Guy-Tancrede de Gratet de Dolomieu (1750-1801).
Such champions were analyzed then by Nicolas Theodore de Saussure, friend of the Dolomieu, which confirmed that such rocks were not constituted by carbonate of kick, but from double carbonate of kick and magnesium, a mineral until then unknown.
The mountains of Coral it is unlikely to imagine that the mountains dolomitiche has originally been islands in the mean of the oceans, surrounded by real coral barriers swarming of the most varied forms of animal and vegetable life.
Yet, the coral bluffs and their neighboring parts, have represented vast portions of the Rosengarten, of the Sciliar, of the Latemar, of the Marmolada, some Group Saddles, of the Shovels of St. Martin, of the Odles, of the Sassolungo, and of so many other thick dolomitici.

Dolomites of Brenta: in search of the raponzolo in the Dolomites of Brenta
Looking for the mythical one "raponzolo of the rocks" in the Dolomites of Brenta - 2/09/2004.
Masterpiece of the nature: the "raponzolo of the rocks", protected (photo Agh) kind.
For this we have chosen an endemic kind that grows only on our Alps among June and August: the fantastic raponzolo of the rocks.
Therefore signaling had come there that near Mouth of Hells, to east south of the Lake of Tovel, quite a lot years had been observed ago some exemplary ones of Raponzolo of the Rocks (Physoplexis comosa), a rare flower a great deal that grows only in the alpine arc, on the limestone, in the zone that goes big way from the Lake of Chest of drawers to the Carinzia.
Splendid run to ring of around 16 km in a zone of the Dolomites of Brenta decidedly a little frequented and wild, on the south mountains of the Lake of Tovel.
Three splendid exemplary of raponzolo of the rocks (photo Agh).
miracle! And' him, the raponzolo of the rocks! A mighty "urrah" it echoes in the throats.
We now continue toward Mouth of hells, where we had had the signaling of the presence of the raponzolo: here leaned out also on the grandiose Val of low Cadin, we find some exemplary ones few to valley of the footstep, hidden in the ravines of the rocks, even if not so beautiful as those found under the Loverdina.

DOLOMITES ROCKS:

Dolomites of Brenta - Pian of the Dwarf one
You know that who writes it doesn't excessively love the crowded places and therefore, this time we propose also you an interesting itinerary in the Dolomites of Brenta.
It was on the occasion of her/it "hunting" to the Raponzolo of the Rocks (Wandering about 2/09/2004), that we had been able far to observe from, almost incredulous, a grandiose green expanse to the feet of the Peller Mountain.
Plant of genziana among rocks of limestone (photo Agh).
Since The substratum of the Pian of the Dwarf one is entirely constituted by calcareous rocks, the strong superficial carsismo has at least partly cancelled these structures.
The wall north of Top Vallina clearly introduces the niche of separation of an ancient going up again submarine landslide to the Cretaceous one that has interested the clear rocks carbonatiche giurassiche already solidified.
We notice above all the beautiful red-pink flowers of lupinella montana that happily the lawns: then eufrasia, alpine star, campanula of Scheuchzer, alpine crepide, genziana sfrangiata, senecione of Fuchs, tooth of lion of mountain, the poisonous aconite napello (you see beside playpen), carline "timekeeper" (he/she is closed when it changes the time), mountainous scabiosa, raponzolo of Scheuchzer, dafne mezereum with his/her red berries, camomile of mountain, finally whole colonies of alpine semprevivo and, on the rocks, the inevitable alpine stars.

PARK NATIONAL DOLOMITES BELLUNESI
LOCATION: In Veneto, between the Venetian prealpis and the Dolomites, on the right shore of the Piave, between Feltre and Belluno.
ENVIRONMENT: Mountainous complex constituted by three groups dolomitici separated from deep perpendicular valleys to the river auction of the Piave, characterized by strong excursions altimetriche and from the sour aspect, but don't miss pastures and sweets hills.
Big part of the territory founds him on rocks type sedimentary of the Mesozoico, but examples of rocks of other origin don't miss.
The principal stratigraphical series is constituted by dolomie triassiche (Dolomia Principale of the Mountains of the Sun); of more ancient age the Dolomia of the Sciliar (Piz de Mez and Piz de Sangron), the sandstones of Val Gardena and the crystalline metamorphic plinth of Paleozoic age that constitutes the crystalline clog of the Alps (Tall Valley of the Mis, Valley Imperina, where rocks of age Permianas also appear on the surface (ancient!).
For the Jurassic one the Limestones Grey (with various levels of dolomitizzazione and sometimes rich of fossils) and other rich calcareous formations of clayey components and selciferi are followed.

COMMUNITY MONTANA CENTRO CADORE - THE DOLOMITES
The origin of the Dolomites is made to go up again to the period superior triassico of the era mesozoica when this region was submerged by the sea.
The plinth of scistose-crystalline rocks on which I/you/they are formed goes up again to the primary era straight.
On the crystalline schists various sea sediments were deposited: marne, sandstones and other schists of different colors; around halves the triassico they started to form him the great thick calcareous-dolomitici created him by the gradual aggregation of materials of bluff deposited by myriads of corals and calcareous algae.
The rocks dolomitiches are also present in other parts of Europe, but only in the inclusive region between the tall Adige and the Cadore they reach a vastness and a grandeur such to infuse a particular and unmistakable touch to the landscape.
It was the French geologist Dolomieu (1750-1801) to study for first, toward the end of the Seven hundred one, the material that constitutes these characteristics mountainous formations: it was him to individualize the prevalence of the double carbonate of kick and magnesium that it gives their unusual morphology to the Dolomites.
On the calcareous rocks and dolomitiche they live the Petrocallis pyrenaica from the red corollas, the Potentilla caulescens from the white flowers, the Draba sautéri from the yellow petals and a lot of other kinds whose list would be still long.

Dolomites Lucane and Park Gallipoli-brother-in-law
...a chain of steeples of rocks sandstones, deeply engraved in the throat dug by the I get back Caperino, it polls irta and sour in the sinuous valley of the Basento between Albano and Campomaggiore.
One of the most suggestive landscapes of the Basilicata attend the travellers that, from the speedway that it crosses the valley of the Basento, they decide to divert in slope for the steep roads that conduct to Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa the two countries guarded from the rocky towers of the Dolomites Lucane.
Despite the name, if he minds the geology, these steeples don't have anything to whether to do with the real Dolomites.
From Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa, that rise really to the feet of the rocks, various more accessible paths allow to admire the most elegant towers.
Even if the landscape of the Dolomites Lucane is in good part I strip, the zone entertains a rich and interesting flora.
On the rocks they grow the red valerian, the digital ferruginea, the coin of the Pope and the rarest onosmas lucano and the leaves linaria of broom of the Dalmazia.
The rocky towers of the Dolomites Lucanes offer a good habitat to the birds of prey, that are present in the zone with the gheppio, the wandering hawk, the real kite, the buzzard and the sparrow hawk.
